Does it pick you up or pull you down?

 

Dr. Susan Holtzman, Associate Professor (psychology) and IHLCDP Associate, focuses her research on how our social environment influences physical and emotional well-being during times of stress. Her research couldn’t be timelier when social distancing and working from home has become our new normal to reduce the spread of COVID-19. For many people, this means relying on social media, texting, and video-meetings to continue personal contact with family, friends and co-workers. But is exposure to social media and extended screen time always helpful in stressful times?
