Small Steps for Big Changes Findings Released

The findings of a pilot project to transition the Small Steps for Big Changes (SSBC) program into a sustainable community-based program were released today by Dr. Mary Jung, IHLCDP Associate and Associate Professor in the School of Health and Exercise Science.  Between August 2019 and March 2020, 10 YMCA staff were trained and subsequently delivered the SSBC program at the Kelowna Downtown YMCA and Kelowna Family YMCA. Results indicate the program was well received by all involved and resulted in significant improvements on various health indicators among clients completing the program.  Based on the success of this pilot project and the valuable feedback from participants, there are plans to expand the program to new locations.
