IHLCDP Associate, Dr. Nelly Oelke is leading a team of researchers from UBC Okanagan, Thompson Rivers University and University of Northern British Columbia to understand the mental health impacts of climate change events (e.g., wildfires, floods) and COVID-19 on rural communities. Working with the input of community stakeholders, this research informs community-based action plans to build resilient rural communities. Other IHLCDP collaborators on this project include Dr. Donna Kurtz and Dr. Carolyn Szostak, in addition to regional, provincial and international partners. The project is funded by the IURC/Tri-University Partnership Research Fund.
