Making Sense of Pain

Seniors Daily Exercise

Dr. Susan Holtzman, Associate Professor of Psychology and  IHLCDP Associate, has teamed up with PainBC to offer a free self-management program for people with chronic pain.   The Making Sense of Pain program is held over nine to ten weeks and is led by a trained facilitator. The program includes opportunities to learn about pain, the various factors that can cause or make pain worse, and simple strategies that can help to better manage pain in everyday life. The free weekly sessions are offered online via Zoom.

Chronic pain frequently occurs with other conditions such as chronic diseases, mental health issues, and substance use health concerns, all of which can affect or limit access to healthcare. Making Sense of Pain is designed for anyone who has difficulty accessing support services to manage their pain.
